How to Prepare Your Adapted Mats
Objective
Students will construct predictable three-word sentences using color-coded word pieces that match structured visual frames.
Materials
Cardstock or laminated mats, hook-and-loop velcro dots, scissors, zipper storage bags, and colored dry-erase markers.
Warm-up
Point to colors together. Explain that yellow cards are subjects, green cards are action verbs, and blue cards are descriptive nouns.
Main Activity
Students choose word cards from the holding strip, place them onto the color-matched blanks, and read their sentence aloud.
Assessment
Observe whether the learner places words in left-to-right order and reads each sentence tracking word by word.
