Lesson 1: Parts of an Apple
Students will identify and name four core parts of an apple: seed, stem, skin, and flesh using a cross-section model.
Fresh whole apples, plastic safety knife for teacher slicing, student investigation pages, crayons, glue sticks, and scissors.
Show a whole apple. Ask students what covers the outside. Cut it open horizontally to reveal the star-shaped seed pocket inside.
Guide learners to trace each part on their anatomy page. Pass real seeds and stem pieces around for tactile observation and vocabulary reinforcement.
Students correctly match cut-out apple part cards and complete the four-question Lesson 1 check with teacher reading prompts aloud.
