Teacher Guide
How to Use These Mats
Objective
Students will identify the five senses and sort everyday objects by the primary body sense used to explore them.
Materials
Printed sorting mats, child safety scissors, washable glue sticks, and crayons or coloring markers for every student.
Warm-up
Sing a body parts song. Point to eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and hands. Ask children how they explore a flower or a bell.
Main activity
Children cut picture tiles along dashed lines. They identify each object, discuss the sense used, and glue tiles onto designated boxes.
Assessment
Check that students correctly paste items into matching sense frames and can state which body part belongs to each sense.
