Teacher Guide
Implementation and Sensory Adaptation
Objective
Students will count sets of 1 to 10 concrete tactile tiles and match corresponding visual numerals to structured counting strips with eighty percent accuracy.
Materials
Laminated task strip pages, hook-and-loop fastener dots, heavy cardstock cut-out number pieces, and sensory manipulatives such as foam dots or textured buttons.
Warm-up
Model one-to-one touch counting along a single high-contrast five-frame track using hand-over-hand or gestural prompting to establish left-to-right scanning habits.
Main activity
Present the child with an adapted strip. The student places tactile tiles into empty track slots, counts aloud, and affixes the matching numeral card.
Assessment
Observe student finger isolation, independent track tracking, error self-correction, and ability to associate set quantity with the target numeral piece.
