Community Organizer and Activist
Dolores Huerta grew up in California and became a schoolteacher. When she noticed that many of her students were hungry because their farmworker parents were underpaid, she decided to take action. Dolores co-founded the National Farm Workers Association with César Chávez. She organized grape boycotts, negotiated fair contracts with farm owners, and spoke before lawmakers. Dolores created the famous motto Sí Se Puede, which means Yes We Can, inspiring people to stand up for their rights.
