Workshop Overview & Pacing
Students will model three-digit numbers using cut-out base-ten blocks (hundreds flats, tens rods, ones cubes) and write corresponding expanded notation.
Scissors, glue sticks, pencils, crayons, and the printed workshop activity sheets from this pack.
Review the three block types together. Show that ten small unit cubes combine to make one tall rod, and ten rods make one square flat.
Students cut out base-ten pieces from bottom strips and paste them into designated target boxes to construct target values, then write expanded forms.
Check student placement of flats, rods, and units on cut-and-paste sheets alongside the Quick Quiz and self-check exit ticket.
